Keeping your Joomla Files and Folders Organized to Save Time

It is always good to be organized when you are working, and building Joomla websites is no exception.  If you take the appropriate steps to keep your Joomla files and folder together, you can save more time for the fun stuff.

Let's say that we just started a brand new site. We have just completed our install and our admin panel is ready to go. We are going to start using the Install/Uninstall tool under Extension Manager.

As we start installing templates, extensions, and plugins, we are going to have to locate each one on our computer and then upload. So if we can get at these quckly, we can save a lot of time.

So as you can see, everytime I browse my computer to find the Joomla extension or template that I need, they are all title and organized in an easy to find structure.

HINT: You will notice, as an example, that I have a folder with YooTools, and then each one individually as a .zip file.  THis is another time saver. Since I use these often, it is one less click as I can get to them right in my Joomla folder. I also save these within the folder for safekeeping.
