Choosing a Domain Name for Your Joomla Website

Before starting your website, you need to secure your domain name. Have you already chosen a website? If you are starting a new business, have you checked to see if the name is available? It is good to do some research beforehand and there are a number of resources you can use to do so.

My favorite website to use to look up the availability of domain names is taken is Instant Domain Search. It will tell you instantly if the name you are looking for is available as a .com, .net, or .org.

There are many schools of thought, but I would always to try to get a .com if possible. And if that is taken but the .net is available, that may not be the best idea. You are taking a chance that your visitors could potentially go to the wrong website. Especially if you are in a similar line of work. Then there are possible legal concerns.

It can be quite tough finding a good domain name. I have spent hours and hours brainstorming and checking to see of a name is available.
